Ceremony

Who performs the ceremony?

All ceremonies at Homestead House are conducted by our in-house celebrants, who are fully trained and legally registered with the HSE. They’ll guide you through the entire process, from planning your ceremony script to delivering it on the day.

Are your celebrants legally registered?

Yes. Our celebrants are registered with the HSE, meaning your marriage is legally recognised in Ireland without the need for an external officiant.

Can we bring our own celebrant or officiant?

All ceremonies at Homestead House are performed by our own in-house celebrants. This ensures your ceremony runs smoothly, meets legal requirements, and aligns with the structure of our venue and packages.

How many months in advance should we book?

You must give a minimum of three months’ notice to the HSE to be legally married in Ireland. However, we recommend booking your Homestead House ceremony around six to nine months in advance to allow plenty of time for paperwork and planning.

Is our marriage legally recognised in Ireland?

Yes. All weddings at Homestead House are legally binding and registered through the HSE. Once your paperwork is completed and submitted correctly, your ceremony is fully recognised under Irish law.

Do you look after everything for the ceremony?

Yes. We handle every aspect of the ceremony for you — from crafting your personalised script and managing all legal requirements to arranging music, light bites, and even amateur photography. All you have to do is show up and enjoy your day!

Can you provide witnesses if we don’t have any?

Yes. Our Just the Couple package includes two official witnesses provided by us, so you don’t need to bring anyone along. This option is designed for couples who prefer an intimate ceremony, and it includes all the same perks as our larger packages.

Note: Our witnesses are over the age of 18 in accordance with the Civil Registration Act 2004.

Venue

Where does the ceremony take place?

All ceremonies take place in our beautiful Ceremony Suite. The Ceremony Suite is an elegant space designed specifically for legal wedding ceremonies, and offers the perfect balance of intimacy, character, and comfort for you and your guests.

What times can our ceremony start at?

Ceremonies usually begin between 12:00pm and 5:00pm, depending on the day and season. We’ll confirm your preferred time either when booking or at a later date, to ensure everything aligns perfectly with your plans.

Duration of the wedding ceremony?

The ceremonies themselves usually last around 25 to 35 minutes, depending on your readings, music, or any rituals you wish to include. We keep everything relaxed and well-paced so it never feels rushed.

How long can we stay at Homestead House?

You’ll have exclusive use of the venue for roughly two hours, giving plenty of time for your ceremony, photos, and light refreshments afterwards. Time can vary depending on several factors and your own personal preference – all can be arranged after your initial enquiry.

What is the maximum number of guests we can have?

Our largest package accommodates up to 30 guests in total, including the couple. This ensures the space remains comfortable, intimate, and suited to Homestead's character.

Can we personalise the space with our own décor?

While our venue is beautifully styled already, you’re welcome to bring small personal touches like flowers, candles, or framed photos. We’ll help you set them up on the day. You're also free to invite your own decorator, provided they have the correct insurance.

Is there parking available for guests?

Yes. Homestead provides limited, free on-site parking for you and your guests, right outside the venue.

Are pets allowed at the venue?

Yes, well-behaved pets are welcome at Homestead House! Many couples like to bring their dog along for a fun photo-op after the ceremony.

Can we incorporate a ceremony theme?

Of course! Whether you’d like a certain colour palette, floral style, or a subtle theme, we’ll do our best to help you bring your vision to life while keeping the space elegant and cohesive.

Payments

What’s included in every package?

Every package includes your legal ceremony, in-house celebrant, amateur/supplementary photography, use of all ceremony spaces, and all ceremony perks.

Can we upgrade or add extra guests later?

Yes, you can upgrade your package or add extra guests later if space allows. We’ll simply adjust your total balance accordingly.

Is there a deposit required to secure our date?

A non-refundable booking fee of €1,500.00 is required to confirm your booking and lock in your ceremony date. Once your booking fee is paid, we’ll reserve your slot and begin planning and crafting your one-of-a-kind, legally-binding wedding ceremony.

How do instalment payments work?

After your deposit is paid, the remaining balance can be split into manageable instalments.

Note: Your remaining balance is due no later than 28 days prior to your chosen ceremony date.

Suppliers

Can we bring in our own suppliers?

We take care of most elements in-house, but if you have a preferred florist, musician, or photographer, we’re happy to discuss it and accommodate where possible.

Can we bring our own musicians?

Yes. You can bring your own live musician, or singer — or simply use our in-house PA sound system to play your chosen tracks.

Can we bring our own makeup artist or hairdresser?

Yes. You can invite your makeup artist or hairdresser to get you ready at Homestead before your ceremony. Our Glam Room is specially designed for those pre-ceremony touch ups.

Do you provide catering?

We provide light bites and seasonal refreshments in our Vintage Tea Room for you and your guests to enjoy after the ceremony.

Note: This is not a full catering service — more of a relaxed, elegant offering with tea, coffee, and small nibbles to celebrate your day.

Can we provide our own catering?

You're welcome to bring your own selection of bites or refreshments, and we may be able to accomodate outdoor/external catering providers such as food trucks, depending on the logistics. Be sure to chat with us beforehand so we can make arrangements.

Planning

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking as early as possible — ideally six to nine months in advance. Homestead House dates fill quickly, especially during holiday times and long weekends.

Can we visit the venue before booking?

Yes, we’d love to show you around! Book a viewing online or contact us directly to schedule a visit and explore our ceremony spaces in person.

What happens in bad weather?

No worries — all ceremonies take place indoors in our Ceremony Suite, so the weather won’t affect your day. Our spaces are cosy, well-lit, and beautiful in every season. The Courtyard is also covered with a stylish stretch tent, providing a sheltered outdoor area that’s perfect for photos, mingling, or enjoying light refreshments no matter the weather.

Are there accessible facilities for guests?

Yes. Homestead House is accessible with ramps at entryways and ground-floor ceremony spaces.

Media

Is a photographer included in the package?

Yes. Every package includes amateur ceremony photography to capture key moments.

Note: These photos are primarily intended for our use, and we encourage couples to book their own separate, professional photographers/videographers.

Can we bring our own photographer, videographer and/or content creator?

Yes, all your people behind the camera are welcome at Homestead. We encourage couples to book their own media professionals. While we take a selection of amateur photos during the ceremony, these are not professional images.

Can we live-stream our ceremony?

Yes. You’re very welcome to live stream your ceremony for friends or family who can’t attend in person. We can help position your device and ensure the setup works smoothly.

Can we bring our own photographer, videographer and/or content creator?
